Denis Calnan wanted to merge his love of art and news into editorial cartoons for years, but didn't dedicate much time to it until 2008, when he helped produce The Halifax Commoner newspaper for five weeks. It is at the Commoner where Denis produced the editorial cartoons and newspaper illustrations featured here.

Denis is inspired by Halifax editorial cartoonists Bruce MacKinnon and Michael DeAdder as well as Bill Watterson of Calvin and Hobbes.

Denis has a unique view of life and is always finding humour in the every day. Quirky friends are also a big help.
